College: Hess played indoor volleyball at LaSalle, where as a freshman her 471 digs was the eighth most in school history and her 29 aces led the team. She was named to the Atlantic 10 All-Rookie team. Hess then transferred to Towson but her first season there was cut short due to COVID. The following year she tallied 471 digs, which was the 13th most in program history, and 28 aces. As a junior she led the team in digs with 390 and added 22 aces. In her senior season she ended with 214 digs and 16 aces. Hess played one season of beach volleyball at Jacksonville University as a graduate student
Personal: Hess started all four years for her varsity high school volleyball team, and was a two-time First Team All-State selection. She ended her career with over 1,000 kills.
